Lecture 1 – Tuesday, 6.6.2023 – hall 917, 10:00

The Management of Opera. Eastern Adriatic Theatres (1861-1918)

The lecture offers insights into the dense network of relationships between impresarios, theatre managers, singers, musicians and publishers who populated the multicultural territory of the Eastern Adriatic theatres in the period between 1861 and 1918. An in-depth reconstruction provides information on how opera performances were organised, from the initial search for funding, through the choice of repertoires, to the closing of contracts with artists.

Lecture 2 – Wednesday, 7.6.2023 – hall 917, 10:00 International Composition Competitions Today. Calls, clauses, problems and perspectives.

This lecture brings together some reflections that have emerged from the analysis conducted on 362 International Composition Competition from 43 countries over the last 10 years, focusing on what is required to composers and the critical issues that the calls bring with them. Are they really inclusive? Do they guarantee the circulation of new musical material? Topics like criteria for the selection of works, working methods of juries, network between award winners, musicians and organisers will be discussed.

Cristina Scuderi is active as a researcher and lecturer at University of Graz where she has obtained the habilitation in musicology (venia legendi). She is also professor of Music History at the Conservatory of Triest and adjunct professor at the Università Statale of Milan, and the University of Udine. After her PhD and diplomas in organ, harpsichord and electronic music, she worked at the Universities of Fribourg (CH) and Stuttgart (DE). Her research is focused on opera studies, comparative history of institutions, contemporary music and the intersections between music and society.

Η Διοίκηση της Όπερας. Θέατρα Ανατολικής Αδριατικής (1861-1918)

Η διάλεξη προσφέρει πληροφορίες για το πυκνό δίκτυο σχέσεων μεταξύ ιμπρεσάριων, διευθυντών θεάτρου, τραγουδιστών, μουσικών και εκδοτών που κατοικούσαν στην πολυπολιτισμική περιοχή των θεάτρων της Ανατολικής Αδριατικής την περίοδο μεταξύ 1861 και 1918.

Διεθνείς Διαγωνισμοί Σύνθεσης Σήμερα. Προκηρύξεις, ρήτρες, προβλήματα και προοπτικές.

Αυτή η διάλεξη συγκεντρώνει προβληματισμούς οι οποίοι προέκυψαν από την ανάλυση που πραγματοποιήθηκε σε 362 Διεθνείς Διαγωνισμούς Σύνθεσης από 43 χώρες τα τελευταία 10 χρόνια, εστιάζοντας στο προφίλ των συνθετών και τα κομβικά ζητήματα που θέτουν οι προκηρύξεις.

Η Cristina Scuderi δραστηριοποιείται ως ερευνήτρια και λέκτορας στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Γκρατς, όπου απέκτησε την εξειδίκευση στη μουσικολογία (venia legendi). Είναι επίσης καθηγήτρια Μουσικής Ιστορίας στο Ωδείο της Τεργέστης και επίκουρη καθηγήτρια στο Università Statale του Μιλάνου και στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Ούντινε. Μετά το διδακτορικό της και τα πτυχία της στο όργανο, το τσέμπαλο και την ηλεκτρονική μουσική, εργάστηκε στα Πανεπιστήμια του Fribourg (CH) και της Στουτγάρδης (DE). Η έρευνά της επικεντρώνεται στις σπουδές της όπερας, τη συγκριτική ιστορία των θεσμών, τη σύγχρονη μουσική και τις τομές μεταξύ μουσικής και κοινωνίας.
